CES Executive Director Interview Regarding L.A. City Plan to Raise Parking Ticket Fees
KTLK AM 1150 -The David Cruz Show
Weekdays, 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM.
Coalition for Economic Survival Executive Director Larry Gross was interviewed on the KTLK's David Cruz radio show regarding the proposal to increase parking ticket fees in the City of Los Angeles for the sixth time in the last seven years.
CES' major concern is with the increase related to street sweeping violations, which we believe would disproportionately affect low income, renter and working-class families in Koreatown, Pico Union, Westlake and other neighborhoods a high density of apartment buildings and too few parking spaces. The proposal would bring those fines up to $78, higher than any other surrounding city, and would exceed the day of pay for a minimum wage earner.
This proposal appears to be an attempt to try and balance the city's budget on the back of those least able to afford this type of increase.
